Volant Chubb

The Story

Before “fat skis” became standard, there was the Volant Chubb. Introduced in the mid-1990s, the Chubb’s wide, relatively straight profile was designed to provide better flotation and control in deep snow—something that was still pretty radical at the time.

The Chubb earned a cult following among powder skiers, including legendary freeskiing pioneer Shane McConkey, who famously relied on Chubbs before Volant went on to develop the groundbreaking Spatula.
With its silver steel construction, teal graphics and unmistakable retro shape, this Chubb is a beautiful snapshot of the era when ski design was beginning to push well beyond the traditional alpine ski.
A little ahead of its time—and still pretty damn cool.
