K2 Apache Chief

The Story

The K2 Apache Chief was built for skiers who weren't interested in staying on the groomed runs. Released for the 2007 season, it was the flagship powder ski in K2's Apache lineup, designed to float through fresh snow, weave through tight trees, and charge big mountain terrain. At 98mm underfoot, it was considered a seriously wide ski for its time—helping pave the way for the all-mountain shapes that are now the standard.

Although this ski was manufactured in China, its roots are unmistakably Pacific Northwest. It was engineered by K2's design team in Washington, continuing the company's long tradition of innovation that began on Vashon Island decades earlier. The striking bird-of-prey graphics and sweeping red feather details were inspired by Indigenous art of the Pacific Northwest, giving the Apache Chief a look that's just as memorable as the lines it was built to ski.

Inside, K2 paired a lightweight wood core with its signature triaxial braided fiberglass construction, creating a ski that felt surprisingly nimble while remaining stable at speed. Whether carving groomers back to the lift or chasing untouched powder, the Apache Chief earned a reputation as a dependable big-mountain companion.

Today, the Apache Chief brings that same adventurous spirit into a new chapter. Its bold graphics come alive when paired with custom LED neon, making it a one-of-a-kind statement piece for any mountain home, cabin, ski lodge, or après-ski space.
