The Germina Polar was built in East Germany during the 1970s and 1980s, when cross-country skiing was more than a weekend pastime, it was a way of life. Produced in Schmalkalden, these skis came from one of Europe’s largest ski factories, where hundreds of thousands of pairs were made each year for everyone from everyday trail skiers to Olympic-level athletes.

What makes this ski especially unique is that it never even made it onto the snow. The bindings were never mounted, leaving this ski completely unused since the day they it the factory. Finding a vintage ski with this kind of untouched history is rare, a true time capsule from another era of mountain culture.

Germina skis carried a reputation for quality and performance around the world, quietly earning their place in Nordic skiing history during the Cold War era.
